    New year's resolution

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Shadow Dragon, Dec 20, 2008.

What are your new year's resolutions going to be? Mine are:

    • Lose weight (this has been a resolution for years )
    • Put more time into my writing
    • Finally, get my novel published sometime during 09

    I second this.
Also, to try and actually enjoy being here since I can't leave for another two years.

I actually don't make my resolutions on New Years. I make them on my birthday. But my resolution for this year has also been to lose weight. :)

In addition: to write more, to be happier, to see my family more often, and to be a good partner.

    Yay :)

Would it be bad if my New Years Resolution is to bitchslap the jerks?

Actually, a better one would be to try and get a First at university, this year.

A saw a post of yours on another website, Rei, and a certain someone answered with a very disparaging remark. I've come under fire from that person in the past and the best course of action is to ignore them. They get their jollies from making other people angry and miserable. Don't sink to their level.

As for New Year's Resolutions: I have to hit the gym big time in '09. I've let my body go this year, which is not something that has ever happened before, and in the process I've gained a good few pounds of fat and lost a good few pounds of muscle.

    Going to be nice

I'm going to be a nicer and more tolerant person.
Sometimes I look over mails I've sent or things I've posted, and I think, what a disillusioned know-it-all old bitch.
This tone gives my writing a nasty smell as well I guess.
So now I'm going to be nicer.
Trouble is, that was my resolution last year.
    Happy Chrismas everyone!

I changed mine. I bought a planner today, and have started counting down the days til I turn 18 (which is also around the time that I'll be moving out for college) So. My new year's resolution is to put one good thing down per day in this planner. :D

But considering everyone fails at their new years resolutions, it's a bit risky...

Now if only the jerks who claim they don't want to argue would stop saying things that provoke arguments or stop reading more into what I say than is actually there.

Edit: I do enjoy arguing, but they can unfortunately turn sour when arguing with the wrong person.

My new year's resolution is: to stop worry my life away... I can only control me and that's a struggle sometimes! :p

Good luck with your New Year's resolution everyone!! Maybe next year we should all pop back here and find out if anyone actually managed to stick to their resolutions!

I have quite a few actually:

1.) Tone up a little bit
I'm not particularly trying to lose weight because that doesn't really bother me and it hasn't really fluctuated, i'd just like a flatter tummy and to get back into the jeans size I was in about 6 months ago before said tummy got a little round.

2.) Pay more attention to my school work
I've always said this every year after I get my exam results, but this year (seeing as I now pay £3,145 a year for my glorious university education) I really think I ought to do it... plus I don't really want to have to tell my family I failed my course seeing as i'm the first person in my family (immediate and extended - aunties, uncles, parents, cousins etc) to have actually attended university.

3.) Learn to think more positively
Instead of looking at the things I can't do and the things I've missed out on doing or the bad situations i'm going to take life as it comes, make the best of the opportunities that present themselves and try to be a little less negative.

I've had a few problems with depression in recent months and now that i'm a little more stable i'd like to get myself back on track and learn to live with what I have and to enjoy it.

4.) Pluck up the courage to actually post some of my writing here

I realised the other day that i've been here over a year now and I don't think i've actually posted any of my work on the forums :)eek:) even though most of it is on fictionpress. Of course... to post some I really need to get rid of my long-standing writer's block too... lol.
