Hey people! I'm Stephanie, and I'm a fantasy writer I've been writing ever since I was 7 years old, and though I am only 16 and took one creative writing course so far I feel as if this is what I wanna do with the rest of my life. In my writings, I tend to either come up with my own creatures (I've been told not to do that, but it's so much fun) or alter the actual appearance of another creature. My latest obsession fantasy characters are fey and sidhe (fairies. I tend to obsess over mythology terms) thanks to Laurell K. Hamilton (her books are addicting) and trolls, thanks to the awesome troll they had in an episode of Metalocalypse. I also add elements of horror and romance in my stories. (I can't help it. It makes me happy to watch people fall in love) I have one short story I'd love to share, and will post it up, but right now I'm working on a novel-like story with chapters and sequels and such (there's 4 so far ) I will admit, I'm HORRIBLE at writing poetry, but I love reading it. My favorite poem is Annabel Lee by Edgar Allen Poe. I do have some [horrible] poems (the only one I'm proud of is this one called Beautiful Dead which I will post on here). So I will post my stuff on here whenever I finish writing it, and I'd love uber critique, and I'll be a critic for whoever wants me to. So send me messages and stuff...
Hello Stephanie, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
