Hi! My name is Adrian Ruiz, I'm a 23yo Venezuelan living in Peru. I got excited about writing thanks to a class I took a couple of semesters ago in college. But I'm not really sure where to start or how to improve. I haven't decided in what genre or what kind of stories I want to write. My main goal with writing is to learn how to express my feelings in a way that resonates with the world.
Welcome! As to the genre you want to write, if you think about the novels/movies that you enjoy, you'll identify what your storytelling interests are. Good idea to start with micro-stories where you can express your feelings. Personally speaking, diary-style writing doesn't help me since I don't have problems with grammar or syntax; imo it's important to practice plotting your writing at least on a basic beginning-middle-end level if short stories or novels are the end goal.
1. "Write what you know (emotionally)." 2. By writing, reading, thinking, talking, doing things which need same skills in different areas... 3. Honestly? 4. Honesty!
