    Novel Novel Manuscript Structure

Discussion in 'Genre Discussions' started by hainguyen, Dec 3, 2021.

    Hello,
I'm a tad confused about formatting my novel manuscript, specifically the chapter's structure. I read I should center the title about one-third to one-half the way down from the top. It usually looks like this:

    Chapter One: Subtitle

Writing about the story, characters, etc.

Now, I have my story planned out differently. Every chapter focuses on several characters, each one having their own "section". How should I format this, then? My idea is to proceed like this:

    Chapter One: Subtitle

    CHARACTER NAME

Writing about the story, characters, etc.

Is that okay, or should I go about it differently? Is there a stigma or firm rule on how to format chapters, or am I allowed to stylize it however I want?

Thank you, have a nice rest of the day.
