Im new so im not sure where to post this one but ill give it a shot. Are there writing programs? Or does everyone use Microsoft Word?
yes, there are others, but ms word is the 1ingua franca of the pub1ishing wor1d, so you'd be best off using it, if you want writing to be your career--
Yeah i have always loved stories, listening and creating them. Is there much money to be made with writing novals and such?
It would actually depend on what your writing. If you are writing screenplays and script and stuff like that, then I would recommend using Celtx. It's a good and free screenplay writing tool.
novels [with an 'e' ;-) ] take a very long time to write and very few of the jillions of folks who write them ever get to see their work in book form on a major bookstore shelf, much less make any money on them... if you're a successful, popular novelist, yes, there's a lot of money to be made... if you're not, there's a lot of time and money to be wasted... it takes a lot of talent, skill, time, practice, patience, and perseverance to become a successful writer, but if you have a burning passion to be a writer, it can be worth it... even if you don't sell a thing, you'll at least be doing what you love... but don't quit the day job! love and hugs, maia
celtx I've tried them all. Final Draft, Movie Magic, etc. Celtx is great, interactive an free. Great for sharing scripts centrally from a server.
it's fine for beginners and those not intending to get into screenwriting as a career... when you get to that point, final draft is really a necessity... movie magic is second best, but it's my understanding that most in the movie/tv biz use fd...
MS Word has autocorrect, the only reason i use it. you dont know how handy it is for teh to turn into the automatically
