Hi, I'm Jim, British writer, made the mistake of including details of a project I'm involved with in my profile. Blimey, the mods are quick here! Look forward to chatting with other writers and transgressing no more.
Congratulations! My start here was similarly auspicious. I lived, and so will you, if you sip the kool-aid slowly! Seriously, welcome. I hope you get a kitten, or even a shark! to take with you on this journey. Just click your heels together and say @Cave Troll @Cave Troll @Cave Troll
glad I wasn't the only one! Even though it was a very benign offense, I enjoy the feeling of getting into trouble before the 24hour mark. We be Bad Kids in Class!! *sits in the back of class wearing all black and looking sullen and snarky* ugh. rules are like, so lame dude.
Mod hat on here: I know you're all joking around, and we can take it—but that particular Rule is in place so that our forum members (that's you guys) don't get constantly spammed by folks who join up simply to sell or promote their 'stuff.' We often get several of these folks joining us during a single day. In so many cases, once we Mods contact them, welcome them to the forum, explain the situation nicely, and delete their outside link—they just disappear, never to return. Turns out they were never interested in joining a forum community in the first place—only in exploiting one. As the Rules make clear, once you've achieved your full Member status, you ARE allowed to post one or two outside links to non-commercial things like blogs, etc. And we don't consider an honest newbie mistake to be any kind of a transgression whatsoever. No slapping has been done. Our Rules exist for a good reason—mainly to keep things pleasant and hassle-free for our members, new and old. Here's the link, if any of you haven't had a chance to read them yet. Forum Rules Cheers, Jan
No, as I said, I know you were all joking. But I thought I'd make our position clear on that particular rule. In case folks think we're just being mean by deleting their links. When I'm being mean, you'll see this:
i'm glad these policies exist, to be clear. but also i'm glad... 'cause now i'm one of the cooooool bad kids *puts big black boots on desk and tips chair backwards, puts on sunglasses inside* so cool
Okay enough - I'm closing this thread as its now off whatever topic is once had - I'm also moving it out of new member intros because its not really the first impression we want a new member to get
