    Trip Down Suicide

Discussion in 'Plot Development' started by Robert Drulia, Jan 3, 2010.

Okay, so I'm thinking of doing a long term novel length story called "Trip Down Suicide". The basic premise of this would have the main character of the story, a seventeen year old female, killing herself early on. I'm wanting to do a Alice in Wonderland type deal with it. Any ideas?

I think you should read this, The Suicide Note

its written on this site by another member and has much of the same ideas you carry, the outline of it at-least.

By Alice in Wonderland do you mean you're going to develope the story once the lady kills herself from her point of view.

A story concept means nothing. I can tell you now, it has been done before. What matters is how you write it, the characterization, the flow, the imagery, all of it.

There's no benefit in asking what other people think of the concept! They'll either say,"Sounds great," or, "it sounds like a ripoff of..."

If the idea stirs you, write it. Then ask people what they think of the final story. After they tell you what they don't like about it, revise it, usually several times, until you're happy with it or until you throw up your hands and say the hell with it.

WOW! Someone recomended my book! Awesome! If you'd like, I can e-mail it to you and you can read it as sort of a basis.

I think it has a good start. That would certianly get me interested in it. Alice In Wonderland deal. The only thing - does she wake up at the end?

I would go back through WHY she wanted to kill herself, what lead to her death, any medical terms/conditions, etc...

If you want any help I'm writing a book on the same thing, sixteen chapters in, nearly done. You are free to read it if you wish. ;)

It's totally doable, it's only how YOU write it. Best wishes.
Just be careful. Suicide is a sensitive subject.
