    Paper Ageing Process + Preservation

Discussion in 'Research' started by g.crusoe, Jan 8, 2018.

In my story set in ~1980, a notebook from around 1910 is passed down through generations to the MC. Since it would have great value to the family, they would try their best to preserve the original. What methods would they use, and after that, what is the best condition that the paper could be in?

Or, alternatively, what condition would the paper be if it wasn't intentionally preserved? (e.x. instead of being passed down the MC finds it in an attic)

I have books from that period (and earlier) with which no particular care was taken, and which are in good shape, so I'd say just don't let them get wet and they should be fine.
