People spoiling ends to books - annoyed!

Discussion in 'Discussion of Published Works' started by Sammy, Jan 12, 2009.

Don't know if this is in the right section but had to rave to people who would most likely understand why i'm SO annoyed!
I've been reading the Twilight books and am almost finished the third one. The fourth one is hard to get at the moment so i was going to leave it a while.
We were at a friends house (not close friends) on Saturday night and somehow the subject came up and she said 'oh i hate those books' and raved about how they end in great detail!!!! She told me everything that happens (she's heard from someone else) even though i told her not to!!!!!!
SO annoyed! I mean it's only a book but i would neber do that to someone!!!!
Sorry just had to rave ;)
Oh and please don't tell me anything else incase she was wrong - hoping there's still one or two surprises.

I haven't read them, so can't spoil them for you. I only hope the books are better than the film...

I personally think the books are alot better than the movie - although i liked that too. It makes alot more sense if you've read the book before you watch the movie though i think. Although the third book is so badly edited i get annoyed reading it.
Still wanted to be the one to know how it ended not have someone tell me and ruin it! Sorry raving again :)

    Twilight=yuck...to me. [Book and film]

The book I got upset about my friend spoiling was Harry Potter. That made me mad.
    And annoyed.

People keep saying that, but to be honest, if you have to have read the book to understand it, then it's really not a good film.

Yeah I remembered around the release of the Half Blood Prince and I think Deathly Hallows too where a guy went around spoiling the ending for everyone and there were people on the web too. I just wish there was a way to keep immature people off the web.

    That made me mad.

I wish we had earmuphs that blocked out the words of immature people and glasses that blocked out all words of immature people.
Then the world would be better cause then immature people wouldn't get the attention they want. :)

People ruined all four of them for me. Someone posted a myspace bulletin that said "look here!" and so i did, and it told me EXACTLY what happens in the fourth book. :(

That's easily said - and done - with most people but you'd have to meet her seriously. It's impossible! Some people just don't listen and it's really hard to get through to them. I doubt she even heard me when i kept on saying don't tell me - she's in her own little world most of the time.

I've come close before, but I just told the person I was reading it, or going to read it, and to be careful what they say. I've never been around anyone that didn't respect that position.

As far as reading spoilers on the 'net, I just don't read far enough in if it has to do with the story I'm reading. You can control what you read even more than what you hear.

I can see that. Especially if you read fast.

Well I was on a threeway convo with my friends on the telephone. And we were talking about Harry Potter.
And it was one of those thing were it just slips out cause we're all excited. I hung up after that.
I didn't want to know any more.

And I do read fast. So, there was no stopping it.

Anyway, the point to this was the fact that it's annoying to find out how a story ends when you didn't want to; regardless of whether you learn it from a friend who can't keep quiet or the internet or just happen to pick it up from someone on the train. Point is it's annoying.

Funny, where I live, to rave about something means to go on about something in a positive way (eg. The play opened to raving reviews.)

Learn something new everyday, aye?
