Same here. I like to sit cross legged and I can't seem to find a chair that makes that position comfortable. I have a nice big antique desk but until I can find the right chair, the bed it is.
There have been a couple of mornings (in the holidays) where I have made a cuppa after the old man has gone to work, and taken it and the lappy back up to bed. The trouble then, is that the cat follows me and gets in bed which would be all right except the cat then tries to lay by my side with his head on the laptop keyboard.
this is like me. i write with my laptop on my lap like right on top of it. can't stand writing at a desk.
my personal writing space is wherever my laptop and tablet can be either inside or outside, i love having the ability to write on the go
I would love to be that flexible, to be able to write wherever! Is that something that can be learned?
This is my space at the moment (out of picture, behind me and to the right are two walls full of shelves.) complete with journal, notes, tissues (I'm loaded with flu) and a snoozing cat!
Lots of desks against windows. My writing space is 2 feet from my desk, in my bed with my laptop haha. Perhaps as I write more I will become more sophisticated
I always have to have quiet around me and Google Docs open - I keep a notebook to jot things down with, but when the ideas come fast, I need to type them.
I currently can't maintain a single seat or place that is "mine" to go to whenever I want to write, so I have no choice but to be flexible about it. The one constant is that I always try to have music playing. Often I write when there are other people in the same room or if I do manage to get time alone I can still usually hear small noises that bother me. Music helps block all of that background noise out. I like to pick a song that fits the tone, time, or setting I'm writing about and set it to repeat while I write. After a couple of plays I tend not to notice it too much and I feel it helps me to maintain focused on what I'm doing. Also, if I can manage it, a cup (okay more like an entire pot) of green or milk tea while I work is always welcome.
lol, that is not me. that is a pic from the link and it is like my setup, except i am much more of a slob and have my feet hanging off the corner of my bed and i ALWAYS wear socks when i write (and usually running pants).
