Do you take care in your physical appearance? or is it rough and ready only on special occasions? I am on it 24/7. I need to look good to feel good and so do my characters and oh hygiene is paramount part of it of the whole package yourself?
Appearance is everything to me in my business and social world. but when it comes to being at home, no care what so ever!
So what would you say is the difference between social and at home? Is there for example make up involved?
no, no make up for me. Socially speaking, going out to bars or games or events. at home, just me by myself. cleaning or watching movies or reading.
I worry when my watch doesn't match my shoes or if my pocket square clashes with my socks. Unless the socks are the statement piece, mind you.
I exercise weekly and drink probiotics. I shower a lot and make sure I smell good. One thing about me is that I need to make sure my jawline can be visible. It doesn't need to be super chiseled but it needs to be visible. I want to look like Steven Wilson when i'm in my 50's. The guy is in great shape. He doesn't have a wife or children so that might have something to do with it.. I'm a tad vain when it comes to me.
How do you mean by shower a lot? And how do you make your jawline visible? I have to look up Steven Wilson.
I exercise weakly and drink beer. I shower before I smell. I am fortunate to have a naturally strong jawline, but I still wear a beard -- which, I do confess, is well groomed. I do try to walk at least 2-3 miles every day or cycle 5-10 but am already in my fifties so am not going to bother Googling Steven Wilson
I think I'm practical when it comes to taking care of my physical appearance. I make sure I have good hygiene. I have nightmares where my teeth fall out or break, so I brush twice a day, floss once. I dress simply when I leave the house. Don't wear makeup or jewelry. I enjoy the fact that it only takes me twelve minutes to get ready for the day.
I looked good fat and now, I look good old. I'm not fat anymore, and doggone it! I still look good! I feel pretty all the time.
Because I'd rather spend my time and money on other things. Also because I don't know how to use it and can't be bothered to learn. Oh yeah, and because I have this fear that I'll become dependent on it in order to feel like I look okay. My sister and mom can't ever leave the house without putting on makeup, even if they're just going out for half an hour to do something like grocery shopping.
Why? I have better things to do. I keep things simple, and look pretty average. I wear my personality, which few really know. Cause looks are like fruit, in time it fades away, and then what? I have an MC that was literally burned alive, has 0 hair (eyebrows included), and looks like a burly mass of burnt flesh. But he has an interesting persona, and happens to be in a relationship with a beautiful hyper-intelligent creature. Also he plays in the mud, muck, and at times in a swamp of bodies to get the job done. Granted people tend to be more repulsed or sympathetic to him, even though he is a bad ass, and somebody with loads of authority. Though he doesn't mind asking lower ranking battle buddies for their thoughts in a shit situation.
Well it was supposed to be a light-hearted response, based loosely on @Alex R. Encomienda "making sure he smells good" but if we have to break it down, before any body-odour develops, I shower. Technically should have been "I shower before I stink" Also "I shower before I smell" because after a shower I smell -- of shower gel. However your original post was about physical appearance which, in my fifties, I do try to maintain without trying too hard... It's a tricky balance. You don't want to be a sad-act fifty-something gym bunny, but you also don't want to let yourself go because... well, because one still has to try to attract the opposite sex (or the same sex, according to preference, but one still has to try...)
This. You could wear your hair like a bird's nest, and walk around in a bin bag if you wanted, and I wouldn't stop loving you.
I'm like you, constantly making sure I look and feel good. I'm very lucky that I didn't suffer from acne, so my face is always really nice looking and I keep my hair tidy and brushed
Do I care? No. Not in the slightest... don’t even really care what others look like either. If it was up to me, I would be casually strolling down the Main Street in my birthday suite thinking it is perfectly acceptable. In fact, People whom are obsessive over their looks (compared to me) annoy me. I also find the entire make up and “I got to look pretty” attitude quasi, if not entirely, repulsive. Especially in women - I find that those that don’t care so much are much more interesting characters and these are the ones I find most interesting. That said there is a limit. If it goes into the territory or unhealthy of simply just unhygienic, then no. If someone lets themselves entirely go then that just means they have no self discipline either and the hygiene is terrible. Do I take care in my physical appearance? I do, but not for the sake of looking good or anything, I do it for the sake of health. Do I ever bother to groom myself and what not? Before a big event of some kind, but other than that, no.
I wear simple but clean. I use mirror seldom but comb my hair with my eight fingers! I don't follow fashion and wear whatever is accessible. I don't wear colorful cloths and mostly like to wear the cloths with gray, dark blue, and faded brown colors. I worn Jean trouser and short Jean coat (like cowboys) in my adolescence but years after I turned into a religious youth relatively, and tended to the usual cloths that were not formfitting! That was my personal choice.
Oh yes, I had an error. I should use clothe - thank you No, I haven't just eight fingers! I have ten fingers but comb my hair with my two hands. This is my personal habit that don't like to look in the mirror much or arrange my hair with a comb, though sometimes I do these .
