    Picaresque series or Collection

Discussion in 'Genre Discussions' started by WingedClover, Jul 13, 2019.

My writing style is more fit for short stories and I always felt like I could add to the genres like fantasy, superhero, and hard sci-fi. My idea was to write a collection of stories but then I realized one of the sets of short stories was formatted very much like picaresque, while the rest did have separate stories that read more like individual short stories. I don't know whether to keep it as is or remove it from the collection and work on it as a picaresque. I will be self publishing these eventually

I had to look up 'picaresque' ( your fancy words are not always
going to be understood without a bit of help in definition). :D

As for your question, sure you can pub them out as a serial, why not?
There are authors that are pubbing a chapter at a time in a serial fashion.
It is also good from a marketing stand point as you will be keeping your name
fresh and up near the top of the list depending on who you use for your
    self pubber platform.
Though there are some of us holdouts that actully like shorts collections to be
in tact, but eventually people like myself will adjust to the new 'norms'. :p

So if you want to turn a short into a serial of sorts, you can. :superidea:

Thanks and sorry. I didn't know whether to word it as serial or not.

I'm leaning towards holding out for now until a little later, but I might consider the serial idea. I didn't know that serials still went on

Yep. I will share the posting I found, but a lady in group
said they saw something on it in the comments. Still not
a bad read, even if I am not a fan of the author's fiction,
I do find her incite relevant. :)
