Spoiler: This one of Buddha Green Tara Green Tara is known as "Compassion in action" and is another form of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of compassion, who also goes by the name Chenerzig. While Avalokiteshvara is the thousand arm version of Chenerzig, who uses each arm to spread compassion to those suffering, Green Tara embodies the more maternal energies. In a sense, she is the "divine mother" mortals can call upon to recover from pain. She also has other versions including Golden, Red, White and Black, as far as I'm aware. She has some parallels to the Hindu "Goddess" Lakshmi as well. I've always found eastern spirituality to be interesting, haha. Here is a beautiful cover of Green Taras mantra, sung like a mothers lullaby to a baby. Spoiler: Mantra
Here are some shots of P-22, L.A.'s beloved mountain lion who lives in Griffith Park. According to the linked article, he likely crossed the 405 and 101 Freeways to get there. These were shot by Steve Winter for National Geographic, via a wildlife camera he set up in the park. Those are the lights of Hollywood (and beyond) down below: P-22 looking none too happy about his tracking collar. That really is the Hollywood Sign behind him; the Hollywood Sign overlooks Griffith Park:
You'd think they'd have given him a better name than P-22. He's not a newly discovered planet, after all.
I agree. At one point there was even a petition to give him a real name, but it never went anywhere. I think they should have named him Griff. But nooo, they had to get all science-y and reference him as the 22nd Puma they were tracking. (Love the big cat pic you posted, by the way. I love lion faces.)
