Indication of new posts in rooms

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by stubeard, Aug 31, 2010.

On the main page - currently a yellow quill indicates that a room has a new post and a red quill indicates no new posts.

I'm having a bit of trouble differentiating between the two. Is there any way they could be made more different? Say, blue and red?

I think you've got it around the wrong way; a red quill means new posts and a yellow one means no posts.

They're too similar regardless of which way round they are.

I'm sure they made the orange dark enough so you can see the difference. I can.

I didn't even realise the quills meant something.. I didn't even notice the colour of them. >.> I just thought they were there for decoration.
When you go into the section, the threads are bold if they have any new posts I think so I'm not sure if the change of quill colour is necessary personally.

It's a good point, and I've forwarded it to Daniel. Some people do want to be able to find out at a glance what forums contain or don't contain new posts, and clicking on each to look for bolded threads is time-consuming.

I find the quill colors a bit hard to tell apart too.

Perhaps if the quill icon were facing the other way (horizontal flip) to indicate new posts?

That way, even the color blind among us could tell at a glance.

How would this be (the unread posts icon is unchanged):

    Unread posts: [IMG]

    No unread posts: [IMG]

Note: I can't change it myself. Only Daniel can do that.

I still prefer the current one. It's never bothered me.

That is enough of a difference to make it clear to me.

Thanks Cog, that looks much better to me - I can clearly tell them apart.

And I don't mean to be rude, but to all those who are saying they can tell them apart or that it doesn't bother them - how about a bit of compassion for someone who struggles to tell colours apart?

seems to me that would be a great help to those who do use the symbol to decide which sections to peruse, as the colors now are too much alike to my old eyes, too...
