This is completely off-topic, but may I ask you @Mary Elise if you've selected a kind of space-themed font for your signature? It might sound like a weird question but I was messing around with the fonts in my desktop's 'personalise' settings and ever since then when I quote a post, the text flashes up for a split-second in this strange font, before defaulting to the normal serif type. Although your sig stays as pictured.
Oooooo, I like that! I used to play with fonts a lot, especially in school, but a prof once told me that using unusual fonts takes away from what is being communicated. Since it's already kind of odd I figured adding an unusual visual element might make people's eyes glaze over, KWIM? ETA: Ugh. I must stop using "that."
Sorry, I'm none the wiser. Are you saying you are using that typeface for your signature or not? I also don't know what KWIM stands for.
Oh I'm sorry. I didn't interpret your post as a question. No, it's plain ol' Writer's Forum text (NTR I think?) Your browser settings have a quirk. Or maybe your OS.
I didn't even know that was something you could do, so I'm going to say no. I'll go back and choose another font in my desktop settings, see if that fixes it. Can't even find it now
Found it. It was a browser setting not desktop. I had something called Android selected for some reason.
Wait. When did Mozilla start writing code to support Android phone operating systems? Talk about a burst bubble.
Eh? I had a typeface called Android set in my Mozilla Firefox browser settings. My fault for saying I had 'something' called Android set, rather than specifying it was a typeface.
Whew. That kinda freaked me out. I saw "Android" and immediately thought of the cell phone operating system. I know Mozilla has code to run on Android OS but I didn't think they'd gone totally off the digital deep end.
When I once worked as a general news reporter, my editor forbade from using the word "that." That helped my writing a lot.
Every once in a while "that" is absolutely required in a sentence but it crops up far too often in my first drafts. F&R first.
