We are very happy to announce that @dbesim @Hammer and @Seven Crowns are joining the team. Anyone who's been around the boards will know them all as long term members in good standing, who we are sure will make a good addition to the staff. I'm sure you will all join me in making them welcome
Whoa! Two generations out... Welcome and best of luck to you all. When you end up needing a shoulder to cry on, well , I'm here.
Thank you all... I only became a mod so that I could ban @Seven Crowns and @dbesim during the short story contests, but it turns out that they are mods too, dammit! It'll be like a Western gun-slingin' shoot-out, only with ban-hammers... er - I mean, I hereby promise to uphold the spirit and letter of the constitution, to practise good grammar, and not to wantonly split infinitives! In the name of fair and transparent moderation, I will publicly state that I will never accept a small bribe
Does that mean no more scotch in the coffee and tea? I'm not going to the meetings anymore unless somebody brings donuts.
This is true.. although i realised looking back that i first moderated a forum (not this one) in 2004.. those were the days my friends, when forums were new... and this was all fields
You should all take a good close look at Iain, and let it be a dire warning. Legend has it he was a nice well-adjusted lad before taking up the mantle of moderator.
LoL Long live nominative determinism! He has, yeah. We have come on board for the menial tasks and are still dreaming of the day we can make the teas...
Never...always a moderately-functioning deviant, then a deviantly-functioning moderator, now just a functional deviant.
Excuse me while I try to adapt to my new community role. No pressure. Thank you for the warm welcome.
As someone who is currently a moderator on three separate Internet forums, and formerly a moderator on another, all I can offer to @dbesim @Hammer and @Seven Crowns is, "May God have mercy on your souls." 'Tis a thankless task you have undertaken. I still remember the motto hanging over the blackboard in my high school junior year English class: "Abandon hope all ye who enter here." Carry on with the carrying on ...
