    Poems Published

Discussion in 'Success Stories' started by becca, Jul 24, 2009.

Hey all, I know I haven't been around much lately, but I have been busy. Writing a BUNCH! I have some good news, I have two poems that are pending publication.

On is going to be in the Irish Story Playhouse, I signed the contract yesterday and it said that it should appear on August 15, 2009. It's a e-zine for children. Here is the link to the site, if anyone wants to check it out. They are not a paying market. The poem is entitled, "A Friend For Me.'

The other is a poem that some of you have read, considering it was entered in the poetry contest on this site. I withdrew it, because it was accepted for publication in joyful! a Christian e-zine. I haven't heard back from them as to when it will appear, but I am watching for it. They are a paying e-zine.
The poem is entitled, 'Break the Thread.'

When I have the direct links to the poems, after they are published, I will post them in this thread.

Congratulations, Becca! I was really excited for you when you sent me the PM's about your publications. It really is wonderful to see members of this forum taking the next step with their writing and getting published.

Way to go on the paid publication!! Now is time to start submitting to more publishers that pay and keep working on the next piece.

    Big hugs!

    Sherie

Torana, I have like close to 20 pieces submitted, between poetry, children's nonfic, adult short stories (mostly Scifi), etc. I haven't been sitting back, I just haven't had that many acceptances yet. I have been collecting rejections and sending stuff to different places though.

A good thing to do is to keep a log book. Jot down the date subbed, who to, what it was and then jot down what the outcome is when they get back to you. Then you aren't sending subs back to the same publishers and annoying them. It's what both Dan and I do. A good way to keep track of things.

Good luck with the subs Becca and I look forward to hearing of more successes in the very near future. :)

I already do that to, otherwise I would go crazy trying to remmeber them all. I save the rejection letters too, as a double precaution, and learning tool. But, since I have been accepted, I now have another envelope for contracts and acceptance letters. :D

I have had an article and a poem in my local newspaper, previously. So, it's not the first time.

    Congratulations.
What is interesting in that poem 'A friend for me' I can completely identify myself with the boy. I just got a new puppy. A little newfoundlander girl (well not so little :D). This is truly a poem for me. (Does that make me a kid?)

Most of us are kids at heart. Our parenting side sometimes sends us to our rooms!
