Past Contest Poetry Contest #281 || Theme: Frozen in Time

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Poetry Contest' started by theoriginalmonsterman, Dec 19, 2016.

The theme for this poetry contest is going to be "Frozen in Time"! The poetry style that this contest will require to be written in will be "Triolet".

Triolet -- "A Triolet is a poem of fixed rhythmical form, with repeated lines. It is made up of eight lines with a set rhyming scheme. AB, aA, abAB" https://www.youngwriters.co.uk/types-triolet

You are allowed to interpret this theme anyway you like, but please make sure to include it in some way. Not doing so may result in your entry being disqualified.

Entries for this contest must be submitted by 11:59pm/EST (ET) on Saturday, December 31st. By this point the entry thread should be locked, but if it's not and you submit an entry after the time stated above your poem may be deleted.

All entries submitted will be anonymized until voting for this contest ends. Keeping everyone anonymous helps ensure a more fair contest especially when we're voting for the winner.

This is something new we're doing. I want to create a poetry book using poems from these poetry contests we do, so if you want to have yours possibly included put two asterisks ** at the top of your poem, and I'll contact you further if you're interested. More information on this can be found here.

Thanks to everyone who decides to participate in this contest. I will be looking forward to seeing all your poems. The theme and styling for this contest may make it a bit harder to write a poem, but hopefully all of you will be up for the challenge. ;)

    Keep looking back****

A look back in time, when all was well
Weren't we happy as could be?
Help me out of this fresh hell

A look back in time, when all was well
Somethings gone wrong, what's that smell?
    Burning, screaming, is it me?

A look back in time, when all was well
Weren't we happy as could be?

As the snow falls, I freeze.
Looking up at the sky, through the breeze.
If only I could stay here forever more, with the vast sky.
As the snow falls, I freeze.
Im frozen here, let me stay please.
I dont want to move, the snows in my mind.
As the snow falls, I freeze.
Looking up at the sky, through the breeze.

My body shivers in the cold claws of time.
My black color has the breath of so many crimes.
Icy tears clothed with forsaken memories exhales through the nostrils of pains.
Air cold as your words shoke the prison bars with screams.
My body shivers in the cold claws of time.
My black color has the breath of so many crimes.

    Children running round the house,
    Their screams and laughter haunting.
    My fondest memories, they arouse.
    Children running round. The house,
    Where once we did carouse.
    Silence, chills me, taunting.
    Children! Running round the house
    Their screams and laughter haunting.

Silent room with a decorated tree, frozen in time.
11:59PM, anticipation for the day, barely passing.
'Tis the day when the sleigh bells are thought to chime.
Silent room with a decorated tree, frozen in time.
Kids on 'tis day, creating more rhymes,
Kids looking out the window hearing for bells to ring.
Silent room with a decorated tree, frozen in time.
11:59PM, anticipation for the day, barely passing.

    From icicles of times lost

    Trapped in beads of water

    Fall the memories of frost

    From icicles of times lost

    I, through tundra snow crossed

    That I might spot her

    From icicles of times lost

    Trapped in beads of water.

    I stand here alone,
    Remembering those times bygone,
And think of the future unknown,
Wonder what it will bring, laughter and mirth, or wails and groans
And by then, people's characters will have shown,
Whether they do really love me or am I just a pawn,
    In their game of thrones,
Or if I really matter to them, though only to play in the lawn.

    **The Writer's Dilemma

    Who knows when to stop?
    Your words keep on blooming.
    To freeze, or to swap?

    Who knows when to stop!
    Yearned with every teardrop,
    Of revision and grooming.

    Who knows when to stop;
    Your words keep on blooming.

    The Crypt of Time

Shrouded in silence, in the depths of time

Forgotten in the dark, condemned to everlast

Naked without the silk, enrobed in slime

Shrouded in silence, in the depths of time

Memories of a king for the servant of grime

Echoes in the crypt, throne room of the past

Shrouded in silence, in the depths of time

Forgotten in the dark, condemned to everlast

    Just Let it Go Already

Yet another child echoes, “Let it Go”
Just to interrupt my special writing time.
    It’s just a children’s movie, this I know.
Yet another child echoes, “Let it Go”
    Singing children’s voices, Louder Grow
Just as I put pen to paper, for yet another rhyme.
Yet another child echoes, “Let it Go”
Just to interrupt my special writing time.
