Not completely. But fundamental "feeling" of the setting does not really change from First to Fourth age, which is almost if not more than 10 000 years, I think. Weapons and equipment of Third Age soldier of Gondor would be almost identical to those used by First Age soldier in Gondolin (chain armour, kite shield, nasal helm IIRC).
