    Procrastinate

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by Rob_G, Nov 13, 2013.

Some days I will Procrastinate until frustration takes hold of me, other days I will write and write and write.

I had a short block yesterday, while writing NaNo. I was frustrated too, but after about an hour I thought to myself, "I'm powering through!" (F.R.I.E.N.D.S fans will understand this). I just went for it. I was struggling with description, so I focused mainly on dialogue, and it worked for me.

Every writer will get a block eventually, and some get more than others. Don't get frustrated; stay calm, have some Nutella, and take the day off. :)

    I'm a Friends fan but I don't get the reference... O.O

I think having Nutella is excellent advice

@Mckk Maybe I was a bit vague - it's when Rachel slaps Joey every time he moves his hands farther down, and so they "power through", lighting candles and taking off her bra. :p

Just remember the phrase "I'll procrastinate later" and get back to work!

I was going to respond to this, but I'll do it later instead.

I'm procrastinating by making a detailed map for my story, which has actually turned into me working on my storyline while making the map. So technically... I'm not procrastinating. I'm multi-tasking!

I have a weekly series to write which means I shouldn't procrastinate and should be working extra hard to keep the story paced, flowing, and going.

    Should be.

It all depends on my work schedule and how early I wake up so I can squeeze in some time, but with a second job imminent OH BOY.

    Ditto.

But when I've got a story to finish, I force myself to write!

I never procrastinate when I'm putting the rough draft down, I have to make myself shut the computer to go to work or be with family or do anything.

When it comes to editing, especially when editing that first time around and the plot holes are so large i can't walk around them, I begin to do the dishes and mow the lawn and work at the office more...
