Perhaps Wrey will suggest it if he thinks it’s a good idea. And I don’t personally have a problem with threads being necroed as long as what is added contributes to the existing discussion, or makes sense in light of its context. I would rather that than 500 threads all asking the same question.

I'm finding The Lounge really hard to sort out.

Because the writing threads I find only fit in General Writing and damned if I'm going to fill up THAT bucket again.

tbh thats probably where they came from :D Imo stuff like "whats your writing space like" belongs in the lounge because its not really a writing question.

I suspect theres less in the lounge to move - but on the other hand its only starting from 6.5k so we only need to move about 700 threads across its whole history to get it down to the same level as GW (we moved over 4k threads in GW)

    :supermad:

I didn't know you guys had started on the lounge already. Do you want to use the same strategy as before? If so, @Tenderiser PM me if you want me to tag in.

I've only done a few - following behind Tenderiser from page 1

To be honest we probably ought to check with @Wreybies that he wants us to push straight on .... him and kompost might want a break from the shower of ETB reports

Assuming he does i'll go to the land time forgot and work forwards

Do me a favor folks and give me a pause for just a mo. Since we're no longer in that upper tier that was giving me the trouble of empowering you, let me see if it will work here so we don't have to use the report feature.

I had a thought about resources ... if you are having to manually take each thread to bits and resubmit it to the resource area, we could do that then just report each thread when we were done so you could delete it out the forum propper.

We'd need to divide up the work between us to avoid duplication but it wouldnt be rocket science

If I also developed her wit, I think I'd be ok with that.

That's true. That would work. :)

If anyone chooses to take the time to do this, remember that Resources is for things that are themselves resources, not for threads asking or hunting for resources.

What counts as a resource? Strict criteria, or basically anything that might help one with writing?

I totally forgot your post about replying to resource threads instead of reporting them, sorry. But if someone wants to assign me resources and link me up, I'm happy to transfer them. :)

It looks like the empowerment functions the way I want it to. For those who may not be familiar with Xenforo™ inline moderation features, the following:

When you go into any thread you will now see, at the top of the thread, that there are some new options added to the Thread Tools feature. I gave you the sticky option as well in case you run across anything that looks sticky-worthy. The merge feature is also activated, though it's not in the image below. It only comes available when there are two or more threads selected for moderation. For the sake of not affecting overall forum thread-count, I ask that we not use the merge feature. The urge is strong, even in me, but let's not do that. To move a thread, you just click the Move Thread option.

Here is the screen where you choose where the thread will go. just toggle the up|down arrows in the Destination Forum and you'll see the list of destination forums. You'll also see a bunch of other stuff that represents behind-the-scenes structures, so don't let that worry you. As Moose once mentioned, there's a lot of paddling going on underneath that swan. ;) Make sure to click the Redirection Notice to the settings you see here otherwise a) I'll be forced to look at a slew of redirect line-items (a personal pet peeve) and b) click the notify member and thread starter to the off position unless you don't mind getting a shittonne of PM's asking why you moved a thread. o_O

You may possibly need to log out and log back in for the change to take effect.

Chickenfreak has, as predicted, remained unreliable, so attack at any desired location. If I finally do something on my upcoming 3-day weekend, I'll ask where folks are.

Best judgement. :) I have faith in you. You can use the tag line that Moose created as a search (ETB, @Wreybies, into Resources) and it will give you plenty to choose from . There's no moderator feature that helps with this part. It's a matter of reconstructing the Resource out from the original OP using the options one gets in the creation of a Resource. That's why I left this part to the last. There's no special trick to make it any easier since there isn't a clean bridge between the forum proper and the Resource area.

    Thanks!

And now I have the ultimate decision, you'd better tell me what your vision is for Insight and Inspiration, so I don't move a bunch of threads that then get moved out again. :D

    @Wreybies
Has everyone been given these options? Or just those involved in the ETB project? And should we feel at liberty to start using them now, or are we waiting for the green light?

Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to do something wrong!
