To sympathize WITH sb ABOUT/IN ?

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by Hwaigon, Dec 26, 2012.

    Hello,

replying to a thread of one new member, I was in two minds about the expression in the title above.
The context of my post was that we Junior Members sympathize with other new Junior Members about/in
    being new here.

In Oxford's Collocations Dictionary, I only found that "to sympathize" goes with "with", but no further info
was given about the following preposition. Is it that no further preposition can follow and a different expression
should be used ? Maybe "to feel sympathetic about".

    Thank you.
