    PS3 anyone?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Hellbent, Nov 16, 2006.

So the playstation 3 is going to be out in a few days, November 17th, anyone plan on buying one? I will if I can get someone to go in on it, but I won't pay the full price which I've been told is about $600. And the games are anywherez from $60-70. !!!!!!!!

I mean it's probably worth the money, but you can always wait until the price drops.

I have no intentions of purchasing the PS3. I'm very picky about what games I like which means buying a game station would be a waste of money in my house.

My bf called me this afternoon to let me know that there is already a line of eager buyers camped out in front of the local Wal-mart. Christmas season has definately arrived.

    PS3 = No go.

The price: Way too high. I don't care if it is worth it. The fact is, Sony made a stupid decision in pricing it so high.

Also, you don't own the games you buy. Now here's where Sony really messed up. Apparently, they made it that when you buy video games for PS3 (for 50-60 bucks, as stated before) you're not really buying the game. You buy the disc, but Sony keeps the title for it. It's like you're renting the game, for the rest of your life. And you can't even play the games on other PS3's. Once you play it on one, that's the only one it'll work on.

    Not worth it.

We have Xbox, PS2, Gamecube and N64 I think we have enough for now.

There are already people in line this morning for the PS3 at our local stores. Wonder how many of them are buying just to put them up for bid on Ebay?

I'll have to look into that. If that is true then that would mean if your playstation 3 quit working or got broke or stolen then all of your games would be worthless, and that also means blockbuster and other stores alike wouldn't be able to rent PS3 games out. I'm sure they pay Sony a bundle to rent their games out so that would mean Sony would be missing out on that much more money.
If it IS true what you've said then hell no I won't buy one, I'll go out and get a 360.
...But I couldn't imagine Sony would do that, it's just dumb business.

God in hell people are funny.

So there were only a total of 500,000 PS3's shipped to America, meaning that the stores that DID carry them weren't going to have many; Alaska's stores held about six each. So there were places like Fred Meyer, Wal-mart and Best with only a few units and there were all these people lined up at the doors who were all disappointed, some of which had been waiting there for 15 hours or more.

I went to Best Buy today to kill some time before meeting my friends at the movies, there was a line of people sitting outside, tents pitched. I find the fact that all these people are camping for days outside of stores for a video game quite sad. I mean come on. Get a life, guys.

Well the days of people camping out for tickets and merchandise is coming to an end. More often there are reports of people getting held up at gun point demanding they hand over their money. Greed is taking over.

Apparently the PS3 has sucessfully sold on ebay for $9,000 - $10,000. And there were several robbings/shootings with people waiting in line to buy.

Did you guys hear about the guy that went to sell a PS3 on ebay and messed up the minimum acceptable bid amount? Apparently someone won a PS3 for $9.99 with $50 shipping and handling.

Wow, if only I was that lucky.

I'm fairly brand loyal. I like my PS2 a lot. I play mostly Final Fantasy type games, with the occasional Soul Calibur round, so I'm pleased with the game selection. One of the reasons that I haven't been around so much this week is my purchase of FFXII.

I will probably buy a PS3 when I have the money, and when there are more than a couple good games for it. My only regret is not having access to Zelda.

I can't even imagaine a FF game on the PS3. It would be...just an explosion of wicked gaming experience. When that day comes, I will be happy again.

Oh man. That's disturbing. It makes me want to go on eBay to see if anybody else is that challenged.

But seriously, if that guy was so stupid as to mess up on something so vital, he deserves to have $590 taken away from him.

Sounds like a fair price to me, but then again when it comes to play station and FF games, I stop at mothing to get them. My only other major interest in life is FF games.

I don't see how that can be, seeing as you can see sweat drizzling down Shaq's face with Xbox 360 on HD. I think you were just hearing a bunch of lies to hype up PS3 production. That Blue-Ray technology that they used was nothing but a money pit. Sony is actually losing like 300 bucks for every console they sell because of that stupid thing.
