Does anyone know of any resources for identifying agents to query? I want to start researching and creating a list of potential agents as I prepare for my first round of querying.
Writer's Market is a pretty good resource, but it is a paid resource. Other than that, there are various writer's organizations and unions that provide lists of agents that are members.
I used https://querytracker.net/. But I never took QT's submissions guidelines as gospel, always went to the agent's website to check. You can pay for a premium account to access more information about the agent's response times, but you don't need to by any means.
Looks like a good site. If I ever get this damn letter right, I am sure there will be some good prospects on there for me.
Writers and Artists Year Book has a comprehensive list of agents - if you wish to try before you buy, the local library should have a copy in their reference section.
I use a Guide to Literary Agents which I bought online. It has a fantastic list of LA excluding all the shady dealers you need to watch out for.
Oftentimes your local bookstore will have a "Guide to Agents 2018" book which you can use. QueryTracker is good as well, although it isn't always updated with the most recent information. Hope that helps!
