    Grammar improvement

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by Savila93, Nov 21, 2014.

Does someone know a way I can improve my grammar?
I´m having some problems to write my story, please help, anything is useful right know. It´s been too long since I needed perfect grammar and when you are writing a story the details and the way is written are crucial.

Also English is my second language so I need to practice.
    Thank you!

I second that, and add, read grammar textbooks and grammar websites that often discuss the rules. Google is your friend.

And, welcome to the forum. :D

This. If you have an iPad or Kindle download as many samples as you can, costs you nothing and you will have an unlimited supply of material to read.

In addition to minstrel's advice, don't use fancy fonts because they're nothing more than a crutch and are a sign of a bad writer.

There is a program called GINGER, not to be confused with our esteemed Web Surfer Girl, that does an okay job of tracking your writing for grammatical corrections and spelling. It doesn't auto-correct, but suggests punctuation, or possible word choice and even proper homonyms. It has various levels that you can purchase or download for free. It's a suggestion. I use it to track my online writing like I am doing now, which is usually hurried and always missing something. http://www.gingersoftware.com Of course reading is not only good, but mandatory; at some level, though, you need to gain confidence that your commas are going in acceptable places.
