    Pulp Detective

Discussion in 'Discussion of Published Works' started by gwilson, Apr 27, 2013.

I just watched Blade Runner for the billionth time - I never tire of it. And I would like to research books along the same line. Not SF side but the detective story, the pulp detective/mystery side of the story. Maybe I'll write my own Blade Runner one day. I've read The Maltese Falcon, Dashiell Hammet. But I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.

    Thanks

As far as detective noir goes, Raymond Chandler is hard to beat. His books include The Lady in the Lake, The Big Sleep, The Little Sister, Farewell My Lovely and others.

Other pulp writers include James M. Cain, Cornel Woolrich, Dorothy Hughes and Jim Thompson. If you like SciFi, Harlan Ellison has some pretty dark stories.
