questioning with hand gesture and facial expression

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by varma, Apr 18, 2019.

how many ways do you think a character questioning the other without words?
example: if the question is what are you doing here standing out?
how do you think this can be written with a hand gesture and facial expression without words?

"It is written without words, it is sung without a voice, it is braille under glass—what do you mean?" Seth fixed his eyes on Varma and raised an eyebrow.

Here are a few photos I found that might help. They all seem to be asking an unspoken question.

The wrinkled brow, raised eyebrows or (conversely) lowered eyebrows in a puzzled frown seem common markers. As is the tilted head. And the hand gesture asking 'what' is also fairly common.

Agent Parkhearst tilted his head slightly and fixed Sandursky with a steely glare. What the hell is the man thinking? How can I protect him when he won't even try to stay out of public view?
