    Unless he lives to a good age, I don’t really see how they can call it successful.

    he didnt show signs of rejecting the heart. the month is basically almost over, and his vitals are good.

    the previous guy they transplanted a pig heart into rejected the heart almost immediately and died.

    My brother had a liver transplant a few years ago, and has the option of counselling (standard procedure, apparently) should he need it, to help him come to terms with the fact he has someone else’s organ inside him. Imagine dealing with the fact you’re part pig??

    Pencil and paper?

    What language is he using? what is the problem? If it's one of the common MS languages like VB.Net or C# data-types long or double should comfortably accommodate it?

    Php/MySQL. But the language is irrelevant. He just needs an accurate answer to the sum.

    Not really. PHP is a scripting language - more to do with presentation than calculation, and MySql is a database. A free one. And, like other things in life, you get what you pay for...

    I haven't much idea of scripting languages I'm afraid

    ETA this is how to do it in c#

    private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
    long a = 5629499953421312;
    long b = 2;
    long c = a * b;
    label1.Text = c.ToString();
    }

    ET(further)A which agrees with @Moose's phone... nearly -- c# makes it 11258999906842624 (i suspect a typo...) (c:

    I have no idea what he’s doing, but the language he’s using really is irrelevant. Forget he’s writing software and imagine he’s just doing really hard sums.

    Anyway, he’s resolved the issue now. Thanks.

    Shift all the bits left by 1 position. Simplest way to multiply anything by a power of 2 in bitwise operations.

    that's not an error the e stands for exponent .. see explanation here (because I CBA to type it out)https://sciencing.com/end-number-mean-7430704.html

    on my phone you can turn exponent display off so long as the complete figure isnt longer than the display panel with the phone held landscape

    Indicates the device handling the calculation can't go up to numbers that large accurately.

    MySQL's bigint datatype can handle numbers up to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 (nine quintillion, two hundred and twenty three quadrillion, three hundred and seventy two trillion, thirty six billion, eight hundred and fifty four million, seven hundred and seventy five thousand, eight hundred and seven), so 1,125,899,996,842,624 (one quadrillion, one hundred and twenty five trillion, eight hundred and ninety-nine billion,, none hndred and ninety-nine million, eight hundred and forty-two thousand, six hundred and twenty four) should be absolutely fine.

    Fossil fuels are little more than concentrated solar energy that had collected over millions of years in the distant past. In the last two hundred years we have pulled countless millennia from the ground and put it back in the air. I am concerned that we may be running out of time.

    (Inspired by a Kilgore Trout story imbedded in the novel Jailbird, by Vonnegut.)

    Apparently COVID can’t access the top deck of buses. That’s my assumption, at least, because every ignorant fuckwit that gets on the bus without a face covering heads straight upstairs.
