    1865 - Lincoln is Assassinated

    16 years later

    1881 - Garfield is Assassinated

    20 years later

    1901 — McKinley is Assassinated

Damn. If someone were connecting the dots here in 1901, I bet they were nervous as hell during the years between 1917 and 1921.

Of course, imagine being twelve in 1901. That means if he/she lived to be 74, they would’ve been alive to see two presidents being killed, the second one being John F. Kennedy in 1963. But let’s take it a step forward.

What if we have someone who was one-hundred years old in 1963. That would mean they were two when Lincoln died, eighteen when Garfield died, thirty-eight when McKinley died and, just to rub salt in the wound, a hundred when JFK dies.

That’s right, they could’ve spent their whole life watching presidents being killed.

Which means, holy shit. If you were a hundred years old in 1963, you were alive for most of the biggest world events in memory. The boom of the Industrial Revolution, the rise and fall of empires, two world wars, the birth of the Technological Revolution...

It really wasn’t that long ago when you think about it.

I suddenly really like The Force Awakens now. I didn’t hate it or anything before, but I was firmly apathetic.

Now I feel mildly celebratory of competence.

Oh look, JJ can clearly establish geography in a fight scene and understands pacing. . .

Like, The Force Awakens. It was a solid film.

Rise of Skywalker’s major retcon is that I retroactively have only positive things to say about Episode 7.

I own Star Trek: The Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise.

I'm not interested in Deep Space 9. I hear it's all about the Federation fighting off the Kardashians.

DS9 was about Prophesy fulfilled and new alien perspectives. So too with Babylon5. You'll miss a lot if you don't add them to your experience. You will have to be tolerant, though.

I have the complete B5. I watched the episode where the young races fought the Vorlons on the same day as the episode where the Klingons attacked DS9. The contrast in the two space battles was notable.

I don't particularly like Cisko (or Janeway) as characters. Mind you, I can't stand Kim or Neelix, and I'm not overly fond of Paris, and that makes up about half the cast. DS9 just doesn't do it for me.

Anyway, the above comment was just an excuse to pun Cardassians/Kardashians.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader:

In case you find this offensive that's my friendly 2020 memo to everyone I know or don't. Took me a while (3 seconds) to come up with it and bravery is a good quality to have as a person. Cheers! < 3

I bought some ‘vitamin gum’ by a company called Blockhead the other day, and on the back it lists the vitamins contained and how much of each the gum provides. Apparently two pieces a day provides 100% NVR (Nutrient Reference Value (no, I don’t know either) of vitamin C, B6, A, and D.

But, the bit I don’t get is that it’s gum. I mean, if it’s a pill then it’s clear cut. You swallow the pill and are getting X amount of whatever it provides. But this is gum, so what do I need to do to get the full 100% ? Do I chew until the flavour’s gone? Do I chew for an hour regardless? Or will two minute’s chewing suffice?
