    Random Thought #879.6

Is it perverse to fantasize about erotic nudes putting their fur and clothes back on?

It is a strange notion to me that people compartmentalize "the mind" and "the brain" and think one is autonomous whereas the other is not.

I’m wondering if there any tv commercials at the moment that aren’t shoehorning the corona virus in somehow or other.

My friend is moderately suicidal because his ambitions have failed.

My friend too, but not exactly moderately.

On a more happy note, back into my world, I just learned to play "All things are quite silent" by Steeleye Span. Been whispering the lyrics due to the lateness of the time, but I'm gonna try to sing it tomorrow again. To the person who posted this band at the music thread, I thank you. :blowkiss: Really. What a great band! Actually, I'm gonna search for the member to thank it properly and edit later.

The edit: @Friedrich Kugelschreiber thank you!

You bet. I think @matwoolf may have recently posted a Steeleye Span song before I did, though.

I'm at my brother's and it's getting late for me to drive back (we live two hours apart and I am old), so I'm tempted to start going back now but he's worried about tornado weather.

If it's my time to go, I'll take a selfie from the top of the funnel.

I thank @matwoolf too, although it's the song you posted that got me searching for this band. Sometimes I skip to listen to all of the songs posted tbh, although I keep a good track of this thread. Thank you too Matty!

Hey @Friends...but it was my son, a folkie/guitarist and chemist nightmare-blend...my inspiration, the Steeleye fan...

Myself, I am more basic, and Bach also...heh (funny).

I did my 60 hours with the mental health people so am celebrating tonight. Punk posts tomorrow.

    Love Loves xx

Oh, I actually posted "All Things Are Quite Silent." It's a great song by a great band. Maddy Prior has a killer voice.

There’s a town called Lewes, a witchcraft and folk music crucible, and my chap is down tbere along with Maddy although it is the scene of strictest folk lunacy - squeezebox only, accapela (sp), and guitar being heresy...heretical

I have a friend who is in school to become a lab tech. He was never a good students, but now he is doing well and he feels happy and content going this direction. My other friend is literally trying to become the next Elon Musk, but he's miserable and to be honest, he's deluded as to how much is hard work and how much is just innate brilliance.

Do what you can become good at.

As an individual, what does the word afford mean to you?

If you were asked ‘Can you afford it?’ when considering a purchase, what would your thought process be in determining an answer? The dictionary probably says something like ‘having sufficient funds available’ but it goes deeper than that. Many would argue that if you have to ask the question in the first place then you can’t afford it, but again it’s not that simple, is it?

For instance I could hop online right now and order myself a £500 camera, but does that mean I can afford it?

I would like an Italian bicycle, and also a Bakelite radio for my five hundred dollars [archaic] although not a camera due to strong personal prejudice regarding photographers, but not you @Jud...it is kind of my ‘racism,’ a problem, & same with ‘athletes.’

It all depends on how high a purchase is on your hierarchy of needs. A person might be able to afford to go out to the bar but not to a movie, even if they'll spend the same or more at a bar.

Trying to pull skin tight jeans on over sweaty skin is next to impossible. In other news, one of the dying bushes in front of my house is pretty much gone now. Chainsaws are frickin sweet.

I don’t get that. I’d get it if one of the options was a necessity, but neither in your example are.

Neither has to be a necessity. The person in the example thinks it's important to drink and socialize. It's higher on their list of priorities than seeing a movie in a theater. If they have fifty bucks left to their name, they might be willing to spend it on one thing but not another. Necessity is a relative term.
