    Where did colors come from? I really just don't understand how some random person a long time ago just picked up an apple and said that it was red.
    (I know that's not really where the color red came from, but how did we come up with colors?)

    Not sure exactly, but probably like anything else. It was a thing that needed differentiation from other things that had otherwise similar characteristics. Like hard and soft. Or small and large.
