I was worried it was an issue with my notebook but it turned out to definitely be the board here. Yesterday I couldn't paste a paragraph. Eventually I could paste a couple sentences at a time but not consistently. I kept thinking the page I was copying from had some kind of copy protect. I didn't think much more about it. Today I copied one paragraph just fine but the second one from a different source wouldn't paste. So I tried pasting it to Textedit to see if it was on the clipboard and it was. Then it pasted in the post but instead of inserting where the cursor was (and I know the cursor was in the right place because I was checking my keystrokes in case that was the problem), it pasted to the top of the post. Then it pasted normally at the cursor. Anyone else? I haven't had any problems with copy and paste from the forum to the forum in the short story contest.
And it gets weirder still. Between the lines is what I ended up with trying to paste one url: ____________________________________________________________ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seattle_Fault_location.png http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seattle_Fault_location.png http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seattle_Fault_location.png http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seattle_Fault_location.png http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seattle_Fault_location.png And yet 1,800+ people died in Katrina flooding. A lot more tornados and hurricanes on this list than quakes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_disasters_in_the_United_States_by_death_toll I'm not arguing with perception, we all have our own when it comes to disaster threat perceptions. @mammamaia: I'm in Bellevue, a Seattle 'burb. My house, unfortunately lies almost directly on the Seattle Fault. My house is about where the 'f' in 'fault' is on this map: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seattle_Fault_location.png And yet 1,800+ people died in Katrina flooding. I got nothing with several attempts then I held 'command c' down and got the outline format of the urls at the top of the page. I tried to cut and paste one to the right place, nothing. So I switched to 'more options' and the paste worked fine but trying to delete the extra outline of urls I could delete everything but the outline code. The board decided the first quote belonged in the outline. I fixed that with 'move left' but still could not delete the first two ones from the outline. Note that this weirdness happened pasting either text or urls.
Anyone? Bueller? Thought I'd test it to see if it was related to the url or random: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seattle_Fault_location.png Copies fine. What if it's the second paste? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seattle_Fault_location.png Nope no problem.
Test pastes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seattle_Fault_location.png http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pedant Nothing.
It's bizarro world. Look at that outline formatting. I know I'm not the only one using Chrome, so that's probably not it. OK, I'll just keep posting updates if/when it happens again.
Definitely not the only one on Chrome. Much as I like to keep Google where I can see it because I fear it's silently taking over the digital world, thus our digital lives, and no one seems to be wigging out over it, which I find fascinating given the human propensity to see conspiracy theories, I use Chrome.
Chrome yes, but I stay logged out of Facebook after I logged into a site using FB and they posted my real name on the blog I was replying in. Bastards never asked or anything.
Happened again, this time replying in a PM. I was trying to copy a paragraph from a short story contest three times to ask which the author intended re: paragraph spaces and sentences ending mid paragraph. 1st copy paste, no problem. But the second two wouldn't paste. They did paste when I replaced text instead of just pasting to the cursor.
Still having trouble and it's wiggier than ever. I've been ignoring it because I have a work around. I type a couple spaces, highlight it and paste into the highlighted area and it works. But today, after three tries doing just that, instead of pasting to the designated place, it pasted to my last sentence, not in the highlighted area and copied over the sentence. It did this twice before I typed something in between, then highlighted the couple spaces and pasted the sentence. Also, when I was trying to paste the sentence initially, two hard returns would paste but with no text.
