    can i...

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by mammamaia, Aug 31, 2008.

...add an offer to my sig info, to send free copies of my first 2 books in print to anyone who wants 'em?

it's not really advertising, since they're free... so, it's just an 'offer'... hope that makes it ok... please will someone in admin give me an 'official' answer?

thanks in advance... fingers-crossed hugs, maia

I have no issue with it Maia. You aren't selling anything. Feel free to put it up, and if anyone objects, you did it on my authority.

    new question...

i just went to set the new info and kept getting a 'too long...only 3 lines allowed' message and having the devil of a time making it come out to that, although i see others with way more...

so, how come cog and banzai can have 6 lines each and torana gets away with a whopping 13!??

does rank have its privileges, or is it a rank privilege, that some can break the rules, while the rest of us have to stick to 'em?

My sig is only three lines long - you must have a narrow browser window.

Older sigs mat be longer, but any sigs that get edited are now limited to 3 lines.

Some people were getting ridiculous with their sigs - blame them.

I actually have an answer for that. Banzai and Cog if you notice haven't changed their sigs for a long time. I was off the site for a awhile and when i came back I felt like changing my sig.

I had six lines at the time and when i changed it the rule appeared. My guess is that the people with longer sigs have had them prior to the change in line number and can keep them so long as they don't try to change it. Its a data storage thing. Their sigs are already established and unless they try to change them the rule won't come in and limit them to three lines.

    ah, so!... thanks, loh...

and 'duh' on me, cog!... i never thought of the fact that i keep my window minimized... but even considering that, i still wasn't able to make my 3 lines long enough to contain the info i needed them to include, even though each line wouldn't have been any wider than the full-width post... i'll try again, in full-screen mode... fingers crossed...

    thanks for the help, guys!

    love and extra hugs, m

crossing fingers didn't help... here's all i'm trying to put in the sig:

as you can see, it doesn't even come close to three full -length lines, so what's the prob?... what am i doing wrong?...

to quote cp, 'You're the tops!'... don't know how you did it, but i'm infinitely grateful...

the 'vacation' was a torturous horror travel-wise, but my daughter and her 2 little ones were glad to have me there for a week, having not seen me for 3 years and it being the last time they will, sad to say...

love and extra humongous hugs, m

You sound mighty certain of that, My mother has nearly a decade on you, and she's still healthy and active, probably be around for years to come. So unless you have inside info with the Universe... :)

You know maia, I seriously have no idea why I can get away with having a signature as long as I have. I have deleted it all, then opened up the edit signature section again, and it makes no difference at all.

    Maybe there is a glitch?

the reason is that i can't afford to make the trip again, as i only have ss to live on and this 'last' trip was a birthday gift from a gal i've been helping writing-wise for several years... besides the fact that i just can't tolerate another 30/36-hr, 5-flight torture in those sardine-can economy seats...

tor... sounds really weird... did you actually type in your long sig again?... if not, maybe that's the odd factor...

Actually I am not sure about why some signatures are still allowed long, I still have mine more than three lines, and have only on one or two occasions been told mine is too long to be accepted.

Not that I'm complaining like ...

wishing won't make it so, cog, though it would be nice if it could, as it's way too far for them to come and waaaay too costly...

as for the erratic nature of the approving thingy, i guess ours is not to reason why......

thanks for the input and help, everyone!!!

    hugs, m

Soo...It seems pretty strange that I can't make a four line sig, but I'm seeing people on the site who have joined this month with eight line signatures.

    Including word wrap?

I don't know for certain exactly what limits Daniel placed on the sigs. I was assuming it was three lines, and certain tag types disabled.

I don't police sigs unless they are clearly over the top, or if they violate links/advertisement/content rules. I have more than enough to do without having to nitpick that.
