I know this answer will vary greatly depending on the style of the writer and the story being told, but I'd just like to know basic word count for a chapter. I'm writing my first novel and I'm worried some of the chapters may be too short.
You can check word count for popular books on google. I personally aim for around 4k per chapter although I often produce 2.7 to 3.5k. It does not matter how many words as long as it works for the story.
A good way to think of chapters is like scenes in a play. Some are super short, barely a few lines of dialogues exchanged, and some are longer.
