A 47-day form rejection from Colorado Review where they asked to see more work. This isn't the same rejection letter I've seen from them in the past.
Another Honorable Mention from the Writers of the Future Contest, which is definitely one of the best ways to get rejected.
My story has been shortlisted for the ‘Futures’ issue of ‘Superlative’. Final decisions due in a few weeks.
Rejection from Writing Magazine’s Christmas-themed competition, by not making the shortlist online. Bit disappointed about this one as I thought I’d written a good story, although to be fair it was a bit depressing.
Man, I don't remember the last time I smiled here. My writing life (and my life in general) is pretty depressing.
Agents have been rejecting me at a constant 3 days faster than their QueryTracker average. Obviously this is a positive as it allows me to move on to the next batch of agents more quickly, and not a negative as if my query is just that much more self-evidently worse than average...
I find it interesting that, in this thread, we generally use the like function to express its opposite. We don't really like the fact that a fellow writer's story or poem has been rejected, but we like their post to express support; what we like is their persistence, their tenacity, their ability to struggle on despite all the crap that writing and submitting and life in general throws at us and just keep going. We like their strength, and we wish them more of it. So I guess what I'm sating is, stay strong, rejection friend.
I’m sorry to hear this. If it’s any consolation, I almost didn’t post my last one as I wasn’t sure my story was any good and when it got accepted I felt like they must surely be accepting any old rubbish. This publisher has taken all 3 stories I’ve submitted. I’m sure that doesn’t help, sorry.
