    PS2 Games

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Kratos, Oct 16, 2008.

Well, I've owned every Nintendo system, but I've finally decided to try another system, namely, the PS2. The games I've got so far are:

    -Final Fantasy X
    -Final Fantasy XII
    -Shadow of the Colossus
    -Kingdom Hearts 2

    I'm only 15, so I can't buy M games. Are there any good non-M PS1 or PS2 games I should get? I'm a huge fan of RPGs.

I loved FFXII! I don't usually get so interested in the political layers of fantasy stories, but in FFXII it was very smoothly executed.

My brother's about 9/10ths of the way through Persona 3. It's very dark, not as kick-in-the-door as other RPGs (part of leveling up is going to school, studying, making friends... so it gets kind of repetitive) but just watching him play I really feel for the characters. It's more like a psychological thriller, and the enemy designs are super creepy.

Final Fantasy Tactics <--- For ps1, get some ps1 ff's, they're pretty good.
    Shadow Hearts: Covenant <--------- Ps2
Disgaea <------- Tied first place with the FFT series as best tactics rpg ever.

Uhm, I'd say GTA, but it's M and not an RPG, just wanted to point it out.

Forgot to mention, I have Disgaea on DS. It's good, but I like Fire Emblem better.

I don't care if it's M, get Resident Evil 4!!!! If you can't get a hold of it somehow, convince your parents that you need it! Seriously, it's the best game on PS2. Have I made my depraved point clear enough!!!???

I'll second Resident Evil 4. Great game. Another good M game is God of War.

For RPGs, FFVII is probably the best RPG on PS. Also try The Legend of Dragoon. It's not as famous as the FF series but I still liked it a lot.

    Haha nice one, Raven. :D

I have to second Resident Evil 4. It's one of the greatest games ever made. Very long = worth the money. Even though the PS2 version is worse than the Gamecube and Wii versions.

FFVlll (some like to think its better then Vll, but either way its good)

Vigilant story? cant remember the name, but something alone that name (ps1) great underated rpg

and FFT (ps1) brillant game, probably hard to get and costly, but brillant.

All this wipout talk brings back such cool memories (liked 2097 the most for some reason).

It's called Vagrant Story and it's set in the same Ivalice as the FFT games and FFXII. Forgot to mention it in the first post, it's awesome.

Excellent choice on shadow of the colossus, have you gotten up to the garden on the main temple? I also recomend Prince Of Persia, Sands of Time.

I love the story of FFXII, it's one of the best ones I think, but I absolutely hate the entire user interface, especially the battle system.

Ok, to comment on this all...

-Final Fantasy X: Playing this the most and loving it.
-Final Fantasy XII: Played about 6 hours so far. Planning on focusing on it after I finish FFX.
-Shadow of the Colossus: Only beat two of them so far. Like I said, focusing on FFX.
-Kingdom hearts 2: Got to the first Disney world.

Planning on getting, due to your suggestions

    -Shadow hearts: Covenant
    -Final Fantasy VII
    -FInal Fantasy Tactics

If I ever managed to convince my parents to let me get RE4, it'd be for Wii. And although God of War is probably an amazing game, I'm sure my parents wouldn't allow. Stupid ESRB.

Also, a non-RPG that looked fun

-Ratchet and Clank: Up your aresenal

    Is it any good?

    Keep the suggestions coming. Also...

Which is better: Final Fantasy VII,VIII,IX

Chaos Legion is definitely worth your time, buddy. I didn't think it could be so difficult to get past 4 stages. Plus I get to slash a lot and hail my mechanical bodyguards to do some of the killing when I feel outnumbered.

edit: When they say "legion" ... they're not kidding. Those mechanical spiders start pouring out like crazy. I was freaked out at first.

Okami. It's sorta like Zelda, except your main character is a god in the form of a wolf. The storyline and the animation are both awesome.

All of the first three of the Ratchet and Clank games are worth getting (personally, I think that UYA isn't as good as the other two, but it's still an entertaining game).

    My favorites currently are:

Kingdom Hearts (I and II) Personally, I think the second is better, but the first is a classic, and highly recomended.
Final Fantasy VII (This is for PS 1, but I've heard rumors of a PS2 version?)
Devil May Cry (Minus the second) These are M, but really aren't all that bad. Just bloody, and Dante curses occasionally... I'm younger than you, and I have the first and the third. You can always just switch to Japanese during cutscenes if you don't like the swearing. ^^
And Silent Hill 2. Its an amazing horror game, even if the controls are YARG-worthy most of the time. Still tons of fun.
Basically anything Square Enix puts out is worth your time, in my opinion.
All of those except KH are seriously obscure, and I've had to buy all of them from Amazon with those exceptions.
Most of them have already been mentioned, but meh, my two cents.
