Relic Hunted, the second novel in my SF series (The Crax War Chronicles) has been released and is currently available in ebook form. Although it's the second book in the series, it's written so that it can be read first. Still, there's nothing wrong if you start out with Relic Tech. Description: Intelligence picks up Security Specialist Keesay’s contract, hoping to direct the Relic’s tenacity and skills against his nemesis, the Capital Galactic Investment Group. But the rogue corporation has its own plans concerning Keesay: a bounty on the security specialist’s head. Time is running out for mankind, with the Crax striking deep into human territory, targeting colonies on Pluto and Io. Keesay knows whatever plans others might have, fighting the Crax is more important than blending in, or looking over his shoulder. Stepping forward, Keesay accompanies Special Agents Guymin and Vingee on their mission to rescue key prisoners taken by Capital Galactic, before they’re handed over to the Crax. In doing so, Keesay pits his shotgun and brass knuckles, his daring and mysterious connection to the rat-like Chicher, against anyone that gets in his way. Hey there, love the description and I will for sure check out the series, sounds like an awesome book!! So fantastic that you don't need to find book one to enjoy the second!! It sucks when you want to read a series and can't because you need to go in order! Just a quick question, did you write it that way on purpose or did it just come out that way? And if you did do it on purpose, was it more of a challenge to write? Thanks CanadianVince
CanadianVince, Thanks for the complement on the description...they're tricky to do, and it helps to have an experienced publisher. I send the original idea, and it gets refined from there. As far as writing books in a series that don't require you to read them in order? I did do it on purpose, and it is a challenge...but less than the first time I did it...with Blood Sword, the 2nd novel in my First Civilization's Legacy Series. I wrote an article posted over at the Indie Book Blog, discussing the topic and process if you or others visiting this thread might be interested...Link: Writing a Sequel that can Stand Alone But in short, it took me the better part of a year to teach myself to write a sequel that could stand alone, mainly by reading and re-reading authors that had done it successfully, taking notes on how they managed it, and then applying what I learned to my own writing style and story to be told. Thanks for commenting, CanadianVince, and if you do pick up a copy of any of my books, I look forward to your thoughts after reading it, or them
Guess I'd better get started reading Relic Tech. I know you said you wrote the second one so it could be read first, but I like reading things in chronological order.
Link the Writer, First, thank you for considering reading one of my novels. If you do, I hope you enjoy it. Second, it is more common than not that readers prefer to begin with the first novel. Sometimes the cover, but more often the storyline is what encourages a reader begin reading out of order. Terry
Congratulations, TWErvin! I know this has been said before, but the cover(s) do look great. Especially this one spurs ones curiosity. I read the synopsis on the first and second books yesterday on Amazon. Although I must admit I never really read sci-fi they did catch my interest. I have bookmarked the pages for now. Once I find myself having some time off of work and my WIP, I'm going to check out the first book.
Greenwood, Thanks for the positive words and for reading the descriptions, and for considering my novels. I hope you do get the chance to read them, or at least Relic Tech. Take care and wishing you the best with your WIP!
