I just noticed that I used the word "wings" three times in two paragraphs. I don't want it to sound repetetive, but there aren't any useful synonyms for "wings" and I can't think of any way to rephrase it without changing the meaning. In this situation, can repetition be okay?
All I can say to that, in my opinion is, I have read novels that did that, and although it made since to me, I noticed it. I would have to see the paragraph in order to better determine an answer to your question.
There's nothing wrong with repetition. But if it really bothers you, try rewriting the passage such that you don't use "wings" as often (i.e., make the focus on something else in the passage).
I'd like to see the paragraph. I'm betting that there is some way to rewrite it to reduce the number of uses of the word, but I can't be sure until I see it.
As said, we really need to see the paras. Are you referring to aircraft wings, birds' wings, KFC wings, shoulder wings, theatre wings, bridge wings, hospital wings, military wings etc. etc. etc?
