Hey all I’m just looking for a little guidance here. I’m rewriting a story that I wrote a while back anyway in brief it’s about this woman called Brie who's kidnapped by two women called Selena and Taylor and a guy for a cult leader that lives in the bayou in Louisiana. Now I know where I’m taking my story but I’ve ran a problem I’m not sure how to write my characters first lesbian kiss, I know in the story Brie is bisexual but she’s falling in love with Taylor so how can I write Taylor’s reaction to it. I know Taylor will ultimately fall for Brie but I’m struggling with how to write her initial reaction I’m not sure if she should return it or not considering she supposed to be straight
What do you mean by " she's supposed to be straight"? Have you indicated her sexuality at all in the story? Or is the kiss the first insight into her sexuality?
I closed my eyes and let her tender lips touch my mouth very softly. It was juicy and sweet, sending tingles through my skin. I couldn't explain more, but it was so wild and passionate.
What POV are you in? What does the POV character feel about it all? I'd suggest focusing less on the physical, more on the mental/emotional.
Then just treat it as you would a straight kiss. A kiss is a kiss. The interesting stuff is the fallout that results from the kiss.
And how does she feel about it? Is it a total surprise, or has there been flirtation leading up to it? Has she been thinking about it? Is she open-minded about new things? etc.
You must remember this... a kiss is just a kiss... a sigh is just a siiiiiiiiighhhhh.... Sorry, holiday libation with a donkey, a duck, and a little goat named Rosie... got to love a farm wedding!
They're your characters - how do you want them to react? When you say she's 'supposed to be straight' do you mean she thinks she's straight? You know that these characters are going to end up together, but how do you want them to get there? Do you want Taylor to agonize over whether she likes girls or not, or do you just want her to go "oh, guess I like girls, neat" (I'm not even making light here; that was basically my reaction to realizing I'm bi ). Do you want to write this character struggling with her orientation and all the baggage that goes along with that? Or do you just want them to flirt for a while and eventually commit? Just think about what you want this scene to A) feel like, and B) mean for the rest of the plot. That's all up to you.
I think this is one of those times when you simply must write from experience. You'll need to ply one of your guy friends with alcohol, then, give him a high-five, and kiss him full on the lips.
