It's up to Cacaw to decide if Laredo actually managed to swipe any money from Captain Snow. A couple things to note: He didn't drink the half bottle of whiskey, just poured some of it onto himself so he'd smell like it. He's still drunk, but not as drunk as his disorderly conduct would suggest. Laredo can swim. If he managed to swipe any money, he'd have tied it off on one of the mooring ropes while he was out of sight. That way when he gets pulled out of the water, any missing money is not on his person, and he can retrieve it once the captain is out of sight.

Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm new to this forum, and thus still learning about the various aspects of the site. I have about 3400 posts on the agecommunity.com forums as Hidan, but that's really the only forum I've significantly posted on. I'm a friend of Cacaw irl, and he asked me to hop on board (bad pun, I know). Anyways, I'll have to finish reading the thread, seeing as I only read a small amount. Something to do with a fire-poker and crazy guy...
So, then. One denarii is approx. £0.20, based on average bread prices. A bottle of cheap booze is £2.00. I'll quickly translate the list into Pounds Sterling and US Dollars for everyone. Conversion rate between pound and dollar is taken to be 1.6. loaf of bread: £1; $1.60 cheap bottle of liquor: £2; $3.20i flintlock pistol: £75; $120 knife: £40; $64 passage from Balsora to Kargaroc: £400; $640 crate of sailors' biscuits: £7.50; $12 nautical chart: £5; $8 magnetic compass: £10; $16 alchemy energy missile: £4; $6.40 newspaper (printing press): £0.60; $0.96 shirt: £7.50; $12 pair of boots: £10; $16 passage across Kargaroc Lake: £50; $80 rent on a small apartment: £30 ($48) per month ear of corn: £1.20; $1.92 custom dueling sword: £250; $400 fine men's suit: £300; $480 messenger pigeon message from Kharroc-Nur to Balsora: £10; $16 horse: £175; $280 mule: £125; $200 musket: £100; $160
That sounds pretty accurate actually. The suit and the dueling sword should maybe be a bit more; also when I said "knife", that really should have been "cutlass" or something similar. Other than that it sounds right, but remember that these are just estimates. I would pin the aurei at about $5 to $15.
Just an update on the game now that we're all out at sea. I'm probably going to pull a fair bit of time lapse during the actual sailing; unless something out of the ordinary is happening (which of course it will), there's nothing much for individual players to do other than converse. The trip from Rannakak to Kargaroc is about a week, so that should pass relatively quickly. Any suggestions on how to run the sailing bit?
Short of just telling that the time has passed or just having the ship arrive in port? No, not really.
Just letting you guys know, Genevieve has pulled out; because of "things happening irl". I have another person waiting to join though, I just need to get the story a bit further first. In terms of the story, her character was never on the ship.
Sorry for not posting much, I've had exams all week so the work involved with that has been prohibitive.
It's just its bottom part that's encased in the ice. At about the same level that a ship would normally rest in water.
I've posted some additional information in the blog: https://www.writingforums.org/blog.php?b=2850 I'll probably continue to update that.
So what do we do about Genevieve's character? Laredo Ryan Bentolo Fairbanks Flynn William Just assume that william was one of the original six crew members?
well he got there before the boat left didnt he? if not we should have made him a crew member on the other boat. and cacaw can think of a gruesome or peaceful end to Gen's character
I'm saying she never got on the boat. Got cold feet at the last minute, I suppose. Remember we never actually had her do anything after the boat left. Also, William got there just in time to join the crew.
It's Kargaroc. Lots of cliffs around it, and the edges go steeply up through rocky hills. There's a canal in sight which uses a system of locks to move up the island to Lake Kargaroc in the middle, from which Kharroc-Nur can be reached.
All the fog is gone? Seriously? That's some pretty epic magic to have completely removed the entire fog bank. I was under the impression that a small area around the ship had been cleared so that we could see the galleon.
