    Who likes anime?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by ValianceInEnd, Oct 26, 2007.

Ah anime, the epitomy of nerdy-goodness. So go ahead and feel free to lay on me your favs. Mine personaly are Hellsing for the stylistic action and cool story, Black Lagoon for the great animation, awesome action, and incredible story, and Trigun cuz you can't mess with the classics. How about you?

I think the only anime movie that I really enjoyed was Akira.

Can't say I'm a huge fan, though I did enjoy (sadly, I will admit this) Air TV I think it was called.
I tried watching Afro Samurai but I couldn't do it. I found it quite horrible honestly.

That's pretty much the extent of my knowledge.

I never really got into anime as a genre; however, I simply love Cowboy Bebop, its the only one I've watched through as a series, and its superb.

Yeah, it's a fun show. I like how they go forward but discover what's behind them. Also, it's nice when the entire team works together despite the little squabbles they have on the side.

:) even years after the fact I still watch them all a few times a year. Even the soundtrack works for me, a cartoon soundtrack!

You should listen to the Champloo soundtrack if you haven't. It's really good. I need to get it (again, my hard drive died and took my iPod's library with it a while ago)... haha. Lots of crazy instrumental tracks, some slower songs, and then chaotic hip hop. I love it.

Bebop, Champloo, Hellsing, Mononoke (the series NOT the movie about giant pigs), and as a "guilty pleasure" One Piece (hey, it's got pirates :D).

Patlabor the Movies 1 and 2 (I have the series, but haven't gotten around to watching them yet), Ghost in the Shell, Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies (I always cry at some point but I still watch the stupid thing), and just for some good old blood, nudity, and gore Ninja Scroll (the original one not the hentai rip off).

The Ghost in the Shell anime is good too... I've always wanted to see the Akira and GITS movies.

Looks like we have very few people who know anything about anime. Oh well. And wordwizard, that comment is completely irrelevant to the thread.

    Bold and completely unnecessary.

She has given her opinion about anime movies. What's so "irrelevant" about it?

1; she can have her opinion, just like you and others so I suggest cool this a tad before it gets a little out of control and lets just talk about what we do know and ya nver know, we may get others intrested!

2; I have both GITS movies, Spirited away, Parasite dolls, I have a few others that I cannot remember! I have to go looking for them! I also remember AKIRA and the first Anime movie that I ever watched was My Neighbour Totoro in Japanese and without subtitles as a thing for Japanese class. I wish I could get it now!

3; It's a pity Nadala left because she's really into Anime and Manga. She can draw really well in Manga style as well. She has fruit baskets and a dozen other anime series!

Gotta love the early eighties Manga! LMAO. But for some reason I think the earlier anime's were drawn better in some ways, more sharper in a way though.

Looks like some cool vintage anime there!
And dropbear, I don't believe I was angry at all in that post. Words can come out differently through text, I was just suggesting that this thread was not focused upon things like that. If anyone needs to cool down, it isn't me.

I apologize if my comment was not relevent enough for you Valianceinend. I just figured that since this is the lounge that any opinion on any thread is suitable. I thought that as long as it was on topic it was ok.

On another note- Is sailor moon anime? I am not even sure what it really is. Is it cartoons that have a more adult theme to them? please excuse my ignorance.

    :)

Fullmetal Alchemist, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Wolf's Rain are the best.
