Nice find - though I think by 'Deadline May' you mean 'Deadline 5th February'. May's the publication date.

Oh, I think I might try this one. Would anyone be willing to swap works for beta reading? I don't have a reader and it'd be nice to have some feedback before submitting.

There's no pay. If you're going to write a story there are actually markets that will compensate you...

I'm not going to enter but I'm happy to beta read a flash fiction (not poetry - I know zilch about poetry) if you or anyone else wants an opinion. I read a lot of horror shorts. :)

I've got an alpha of what I'm planning on sending in. Happy to do a swap - it'd be good to get some thoughts on it before editing.

@NigeTheHat It looks like I won't have time to write one after all, but I'd be happy to give you my thoughts on your flash fic if you want to PM me.

    HAH!

Just read a flash one of the writers of my RL group entered. Tough competition to anyone, really! Made my flesh crawl and my toes move on their own. *shivers*
Anyway, I wish you all the best of "luck" :D

Sorry have to vent now.. :D

Just read another flash of my group which was sent off. Eek! Just.... EEK!
That one was 750 words, and about 730 of them I didn't know where the story was going. Well written, dialogue, but I didn't see where there possibly could be a punch. And then.. at the second to last sentence, I realised what was happening here. Just.... EEK! *shivers*

I guess I have to start writing short stories now, if just for them. I want to be able to do such stuff for myself, not only cheer them on!

    A response:

"These were very good stories - I particularly liked 'Into Darkness' - but unfortunately I couldn't find a place for them in the anthology this time.

However, you would be very welcome to submit to the next Slim Volume. The theme will be 'changes' (more details and title to be fleshed out when the call is posted!) and will open for submissions on 1 May."

    I'm happy enough with that.

And it means we get to play again in a few months. 'Changes', from 1st May. You heard it here first :D
