Shadow-land [OCC] Introduction: It all started with the shadows... The dark forms upon the ground twitch or flicker, distorting the silhouette of the person or object that cast them, but only for a split second. Anyone who noticed thought they were imagining it or it was a trick of the light. When the shadows moved by themselves, everyone wished they were crazy, that they really were seeing things. The reality was much worse. The demons had arrived, crawling up from their murky home and clawing their way into our world. But the darkness would hold them. Time and time again it would hold them. Most believe that the light is where good things are. That’s because the darkness played its role. The demons’ claws and tears, desperation guiding them. But the darkness is a blanket that cannot be shaken easily. And yet somehow, the demons had found away to get out of the darkness, a way into our world where their only goal is to torment and possess the living, desperately seeking to live once again. Rules - No God-Moding - Be the character you chose and don't decide what other characters do and say. R.E.S.P.E.C.T - Don't be a dick, k? Any issues will be resolved only maturely. Post Regularly - Trust me, I know life will get in the way, but with that being said, try to post as often as you can. Name: Vanessa Young Age (16+): 18 Gender: Female Pronouns: She/They Appearance: Vanessa is a 5'6 young woman with an athletic build for a gal her age. She has olivey-tan skin and freckles under her eyes. She has a slit in her eyebrow from an accident as a child. Vanessa has black curly hair that is cut into a shaved pixie-cut with curls on the crown of her head. She has grey eyes that lighten and darken depending on her mood. She is of average weight for someone her age, and wears goth clothing ranging from flowy pants to mini-skirts. She wears dark eyeliner and wears demonias which give her an extra couple of inches in height. She likes to wear pentagram earrings and all different kinds of chokers. Personality: Vanessa is not a very social person. She will talk when she needs to, but doesn't go out of her way to. She is quiet, mysterious, and an introvert/extrovert. She would rather sit and work on her poetry than hang out with her "friends". She is very non-trusting of just about everyone no matter how much they've impacted her life. She has an attractive personality, but you would have to get to know her to see that, otherwise she would seem sarcastic (which she is) and bitchy. Background: (What do they do? Job? Family? Friends? Hobbies? Likes + Dislikes? etc) Vanessa is a writer who writes stories and poetry and is a bit of an artist. She works at a cafe that is downstairs to her apartment. She hates her job and her home. Vanessa has family, but feels no connection to them and chooses to not talk to them unless it's their annual phone call. She only has two true friends, her co-worker Ashlen, and a fellow goth, Liam. She cares about them deeply and is glad to have them in her life as people who accept her for who she is. She doesn't not like things, she just wouldn't go out of her way to try something new unless one of her friends pushed her to (which didn't happen often). The only true thing she likes is goth, ghosts and anything demonic. In her mind, she dislikes her life and how shitty it is.
Name: Mason Mackey (He’s virtually unresponsive to the first name though) Age (16+): 28 Gender: Male Pronouns: He Appearance: Once known as ‘Big Mack’ for his size in the military, he is now slimmed down with the stress of being out and his life in general. But even after the size down, he’s still rather imposing in stature. At six foot four, he generally stands a head taller than most anyone else. His brown hair still cut in the in the regulation medium-fade. He’s of medium build now. Mack’s height makes him look simply fit, but he’s quite dense. His clothes are simple, mostly single-color tees and various assortments of denim pants. Always wears steel-toed working shoes. His only embellishments in style are his tungsten rings, two on each hand. All are the shining gray of the host metal, but three have etchings of various styles on them. His face matches the simple plain of his clothes. It’s stolid and unmovable most often, leading some to think there’s a million things going on behind while others think there isn’t anything at all. Only the purple pitting around his nose under his eyes tells of the stress and lack of sleep he endures daily. This gives him a rather unapproachable countenance to others. Personality: Needless to say, with his physical description, Mack isn’t the friendliest of people. He’s bitter about his life so far and somewhat lost on what direction to take further. Before the events to be described, he was the life of the party, known for his impossibly forward-facing attitude and ability to lead. Now, he’s a near silent shell who harbors an uncomfortable mixture of rage and depression that constantly battle for dominance behind his deadened, graying, eyes. In his bitterness, Mack isn’t a nice person anymore. He judges everything negatively, yet rarely says anything. He is unwilling to depend on anyone except himself. He works on tasks consistently without breaks, avoiding his own feelings. Mack uses the tasks he makes up at hand to isolate himself from most anyone, often even himself. Background: Mack was a large vehicle mechanic and driver in the military. Came to fame in his early twenties there for incredible physical feats of strength and endurance. He was married by twenty-three to his wife Veronica, and they had a child within the next year. But in an unfortunate twist of fate, after he sent his wife and son home from a friendly get-together that was getting a little rowdy, his life started its cruel decline. The friend he trusted to ensure his family made it home lied about drinking. All three died instantly in a head-on collision with a semi-truck. There was little recognizable for him to bury. Mack took to coping through his work. A few weeks later, he volunteered to be deployed overseas in the Middle East. This proved to be a terrible mistake. Apart from the grueling labor of working in the desert, Mack saw the results of his vehicles being limped home from IED blasts. He took personal stake in cleaning these vehicles and repairing. He had increasing trouble differentiating the remains of his service member friends and that of his family, eventually only seeing bits of lost home in the crippled trucks. Mack’s contract with the military ended after the deployment, and he couldn’t bring himself to re-enlist. Instead, he went to work as a mechanic, but finding difficulty holding the job with his often distant appearing attitude and his general lackluster communication. He is a great mechanic with an undesirable personality. In these positions he’s remained for the last year or so, still trying to shake off the misfortunes of his life and get ahold of the road forward. With all he’s gone through, little frightens him anymore. Especially not his own death. He’s thought about leaving this world behind more often than not already.
