    Hello everyone!!!

I have been writing all my life and I guess it's about time I started to share with others...I have a blog, but it is kind of anonymous at the moment. I find it easier to express myself there knowing that no one knows who I am.

I write everything...poetry, short stories, personal editorials, creative non-fiction, and I've just completed a children's book. I have two sons who constantly complain there is nothing to read for boys...So I remedied that...now I just need to let go of it...I'm very protective...

I majored in English in University - seems like aeons ago...and have continued to write as much as I can. I recently took an editing course and one of the assignments was to edit the work of the other class the instructor was teaching (Creative Writing). It was great to read and give constructive criticism so I am looking forward to the Reviewer's forum...I'm not quite ready to let my work go yet....so I am content to help others for the time being.

Looking forward to 'meeting' all of you...:)

Welcome. And I know what you mean about anonymity. I feel the same way sometimes. I look forward to seeing some of your work when you feel comfortable enough to post it.

I can so relate to the anononimty as well.. :) welcome aboard i think you will find it fun. I think soon you will find that you feel a warmth that simply lets you feel "safe" to share what you will. From your own work to your opinions on others. Have a great weekend and I hope to find you were able to get comfortable here on the forums when I get back next week.

Hello Penny, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

Welcome to the family. Don't worry about being reluctant to share, we promise not to attack, we're here for support. Have fun mingling amongst the members. May your words flow, and your keys never strike back.
