Social media, writer’s dream or nightmare?

Discussion in 'Marketing' started by MissBadWolf, Jan 9, 2020.

I was wondering what writer’s think of social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, instagram, YouTube and etc. I guess some have success promoting their work via that. I am not one so far.
Also what is with TikTok? I do not get it. It is like YouTube but shorter videos?
Back on topics, do you think social media is more harm than good for a writer or something great?

    Location:
Where cushions are comfy, and straps hold firm.
From what I understand, if you know how to use it
correctly, it can be great for marketing and name
    recognition.
I don't use it either, since I am not too good at that
    kinda thing.

This website and two others are the only "social media" sites I use. One of which I just lurk on. Won't be joining any of the bigger ones myself.

Like CT said though, they have their uses for those who're looking to get published. Pros and cons come with everything.

No. It's just annoying when someone tries to rub his or her books/videos/poems/moon rockets against your nose. (And it's painful to dig all those rockets away from the nose.)

Work either promotes itself or does not.

Social media works best as a way to be in contact with inspiring and inspired folks. It's a way to have longer tentacles.

It's just another communication channel, therefore has its strengths if used in the right way.
