A goat has been arrested in Nigeria

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by KP Williams, Feb 24, 2009.

It's about a month old, but I just heard of it today and the search bar revealed nothing.

So apparently, a group of guys over in Nigeria brought a goat to their local police on suspicion of armed robbery. Taken form the article:

"The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car," Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed told Reuters by telephone.

"They pursued them. However one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat."

...I literally laughed out loud when I read this in school today. The fact that police even believed the guys enough to actually arrest the goat is too much. It says that belief in witchcraft is widespread in Nigeria, but I'm not in Nigeria. I am amused. :D

Here is the full article, however short it may be: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/01/24/2473591.htm

Human: It wasn't me... I swear! It was him! *pointing at goat*

Officer: Did you break into that car, goat?

Goat: Nah... nah, nah nah! *shaking head vigorously*

    :D

Something similar happened, but I believe it was with a horse, and they actually brought the horse into the hearing. They didn't actually question it though, they just looked at it, forgot what the case was about though, but this guy was suing a horse for something like kicking the guy's fence in or something.

Actually it was the thieving Donkey Bandit of Arizona. Though i think the Donkey was what was stolen not the "stealer."

Different culture, different belief systems. It might seem ridiculous to us, but try putting yourself in such a mindset. Some people really believe in such things, and the things we believe in might seem completely ridiculous to them in turn.

It wasn't that long ago that witches were being hanged and stoned to death in America.

I wonder if this explains why so many of those weird money scam emails came from Nigeria. Maybe the thinking is that if the citizens are gullible, maybe the rest of the world is too?

Oh I noticed it. I just thought a post consisting of 'lol' and a quote wasn't worth it :p.

Take out the hanged and add drowned and burnt ... not many, if any, were hanged.
