Post lyrics/link to your favorite song to get you through rough times..... Mine is probably "Dream Fighter" by Perfume. The lyrics are translated from Japanese: Aim for the best, to go on a never-ending journey It's surely proof that we're living Oh! Yeah! Reality can beat us down pretty badly, but Surely, look forward and walk, Dream Fighter Hey, this "normal" that everyone talks about I guess it's probably set in stone I'm close to ideals not in the middle of everything But "normal" still just isn't enough Until the moment I think "I was put here like this" Until reaching the far, far yonder Aim for the best, to go on a never-ending journey It's surely proof that we're living Even if it's painful You will surely, always, possess the strength to never give up So we kept running, too YEAH! Every tear you spill is a treasure oh! YEAH! Oh! Yeah! Reality can beat us down pretty badly, but Surely, look forward and walk, Dream Fighter Hey, this "future" that everyone talks about I guess it's probably set in stone The light reaches out, not the darkness But "normal" still just isn't enough Until the moment we think "I was put here like this" Until reaching the far, far yonder Aim for the best, to go on a never-ending journey It's surely proof that we're living Even if it's painful You will surely, always, possess the strength to never give up So we kept running, too YEAH! Every tear you spill is a treasure oh! YEAH! Oh! Yeah! Reality can beat us down pretty badly, but Surely, look forward and walk, Dream Fighter
I mainly listen to sad songs during rough times, I'm not quite sure why though. As I mentioned in the sad song thread, I really like Twenty One pilots's Anathema ETA: Another really good one by Tyler Joseph is Drown
This is a song I heard long ago (in early 2000) on the radio in the car when heading back home from a one-day skiing trip with my family. I clearly remember it was far from a troubleless period of my life, but this song was back then - and still is - such a shot of hope and sunshine that I can't help but feel hopeful everytime I hear it. Like life has sense and it's worth living it.
You stole mine!! I would have to suggest either this: (Mr. Blue Sky - ELO) Or this: (Life In The Fast Lane - Eagles)
I'm another one that goes for sad songs when I hit rough times, I guess I find some sort of solace with words and sound that resonates with how I feel? The Lost Song part 2 by Anathema And the current love for picking myself back up after a bit of a mope: Again from 'Your Lie In April' (Just, seriously DON'T watch the anime if you want to feel good.)
This is such an amazing thread! Music has been an escape for me for so long, specifically my favorite band, Green Day. I actually got a timehop thing from Facebook that I had posted this time last year of a certain song. I know a lot of people think Green Day is overrated, or sold out, or, whatever... but for so many years they have been a place of comfort for me. Sometimes, I find myself getting so bogged down by life that it's like I'm not breathing, but then I listened to this song and realize, I am still breathing. It kind of helps me put things in perspective. https://www.youtube.com/embed/pnTZa4FY_7I
"Sweet Thing" by Van Morrison "Under Pressure" by Freddie Mercury/David Bowie (because Freddie's voice should be cast in gold and worshipped) Great thread.
Really bleak industrial shit. Mainly Front Line Assembly, Fear Factory, and Tactical Sekt. I listen to death metal, so it's light by my standards, but I enjoy the atmosphere a lot more. Rows and rows of crosses Standing in the sand Statues of the fallen Watching over the land The tombs of unknown soldiers Lay tilted in decay Another year passes On this remembrance day
And especially these two: Gotta love those lyrics: Birds do it, bees do it. Even educated flees do it. Let's do it, let's fall in love. This one is good for scotch and cigar nights:
