    Spam

Discussion in 'Announcements' started by big soft moose, Aug 23, 2022.

just to let everyone know, we're experiencing a wave of spam bots at the moment, both caught in the trap (they're the ones with pink names) and those who've evaded it... circa 100 total today

I thought i should say something as if you are new it can be unnerving to see a lot of users getting banned, but be assured these aren't real people, just packets of code being shown the door.

If anyone does receive a spam like message by pm or on their profile, don't click any links in it or reply to it, just report it to us and we'll deal

Good work. That amount of spam must be soul-destroying for the Mods to deal with. :(

Have tried slicing and frying them?

Best thing to do with spam.

If you need a soul retrieval before end of life, I may know a guy. Don't ask how. Just trust I'm pitching the events to Neil Gaiman to novelize.

Oh, please don't. I already wrote it, and if Gaiman does, I'm not gonna survive the lawsuit.

Soul retrieval is easy, it turns out. All you need is a Dodge Challenger and the devil's phone number. They don't deliver, though, so you'll have to drive there.

Just to let everyone know we got another wave of spam avoiding the filter

november is always a bad season for spam -its because of both black friday and the approach of thanksgiving and Christmas shopping season. i think i got them ll but there will doubtless be more

I blame the weakening of the walls between worlds, that inspired Halloween. But then the entire advertising industry has to be a demonic inspiration.

Just to let everyone know we've temporarily started banning spammers caught in the filter instead of deleting them...it helps the spam filter detect more of the next lot is the TLDR version... normal service will be resumed when the winter spamalope migration is over

anyway that's why there's a metric shitload of names with strikethroughs, we've not gone on a ban hammer rampage or anything
