The mess over there is getting even worse... I feel sorry for the ordinary people trapped in the violence...

That place is a huge mess. Even the Arabs in the Middle East are giving up on it.

Well at least Israel is waiting for Hamas to break the treaty.
This is a basic warning for the Palestinians. Israel has stayed out of their civil war, as long as Hamas reciprocates the Palestinians can continue reaping what they've sow. If they attack they'll find out again what fighting a real army is like.

The Six Day War comes to mind. The Arabs certainly regretted that one...

And the Israeli army won't be sitting out this time, waiting for the planes to bring about victory like they did in Lebanon last year. They won the battles but lost the war.
That was a propaganda debacle that they learned a lot from.

In a Palestinian-Israeli war, Israel is going to win. Aside from having western backing, the Israeli army is superior to the ramshackle Palestinian forces.

    I agree completely.
But the Israeli's won against Hezbollah last year. But since the majority of Hezbollah fighters survived, they claimed to have won, and enough people supported that flawed logic.
I think they've learned their lesson from that. Which is why they're saying they'll send in 20,000 troops. Better to lose some more men, then suffer the huge lose in moral and emboldening their enemies like last year.
