    Novella

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Seattleite, Dec 22, 2010.

I'm writing a science fiction novella, would that go under "short stories" or "novels?"

You mean for this website? I'd say novels; most entries in the short fiction forum are meant to be read in one sitting, so it wouldn't work there. Having said that, you're only supposed to post fractions of anything much longer than what can be read in a couple of minutes.

And if you're planning to try to have it published, you shouldn't post much if any of it in the forums to begin with.

I'm only uploading the first act at the moment, the rest isn't finished.

No such intent. I write for my own amusement, not for profit.

No. No, I do not mean chapter. I'm getting tired of that question.

Are you writing a screenplay, or do you just not want to use the word chapter?

Hqving read it thousands upon thousands of times? No, I do not want to use the word chapter, especially since I have five distinctive segments in each story, which allowes me to call them 'acts' instead. I'm not the only one who does it, either.

Okay, that's fine. I was just asking, because if it were a screen play, it would go in an entirely different section in the review board. You're free to call it whatever you feel like, since it is your novella.

    ...
...I figured that. I think there was a failure in communication on my part.

Wow, someone's touchy! Maybe you should rethink your manners and knowledge of what constitutes as a Novella, before you get so snappy and defensive towards kind people. Especially when these are people who have taken time out of their busy schedules, in this busy holiday period, specifically to help you.
